BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN / EDWARDIAN OR ART DECO CAST IRON INSERT FIREPLACE WITH FABULOUS TILES ALL ORIGINAL This is a wonderful fully restored example of well-proportioned totally original cast iron and tiled insert fireplace dating to around the turn of the century, c 1880 - 1900. The fireplace may be Victorian, Edwardian or Arts and Crafts; to be honest I am not sure. It may even be art nouveau or art deco. Came out of a large house in Pimlico With ornate and elegant design details on the cast surround it is embellished with beautiful tiles and is in excellent condition. I have been over the tiles and the fireplace and cannot find any defects. Even the tiles are original. It looks like the fireplace has been hardly used. Not bad of over 130 years old. It could be used as a real fire, a gas / log effect burner or just a great feature that will enhance your house. If used as a coal or log fire it will reduce you gas bills. The fireplace comes complete with grate, front bars and soot hood again all in great condition. Considerable time has been spent polishing by hand to a stunning gun-metal polished finish. It comes with a pine ornate surround, which has a Danish oil polished finish. The surround appears to have been made for the fireplace later as the detailing is just too sharp.
